Women’s white kid-leather gloves, c. 1880. Finely embroidered with floral motifs and hand-finished seams, such gloves were essential accessories for respectable Victorian women attending social and religious events. This is classic kid leather (young goat), the premium glove material of the Victorian era. Cheaper cotton or fabric gloves were far more common — these were not everyday accessories.
