RE.LE.COLLBER.55

My dear Bertie: I am writing you this, to remind you that I have not forgotten this your birthday, and to wish you many, many returns of the day, and that each return may bring you more joy and happiness. Sorry am I that I could not have spent the day with you, and have told you in person my wishes, but this I will save for you, and tell you when I again see you. Tonight I am away out here in Montana, with the weather quite cold, and at this moment there is quite a snow falling, and to make it all the more western in appearance, I have just returned from seeing “The Virginian” at the opera house, and the scenes in this play being laid in Wyoming, make me feel that I am in the midst of the wild and woolly west. I enjoyed the play quite a good deal, and probably more so, because I had read the book. Wish you might have enjoyed it with me. I hope this will find you well and happy, and that you are getting along nicely in every way. I will probably not leave here before Saturday, then go to Helena and spend Sunday and attend to business there Monday and Tuesday. Looks like my trip was moving slowly, but it may “hurry” later. I enclose you the program of the play, but from it you won’t get much idea of the performance. Now my dear, again wishing you many returns of this your anniversary, and with a loving goodnight kiss for you and the little ones, I am, Lovingly your husband, G.W.D.
